Abstract

The Austrian curriculum for Teachers at the Volksschule requires them to integrate foreign language learning into all subject matter classes without reducing the teaching content (Bauer, Dobart, Gruber & Rieder, 2012, p. 246). One of the most prominent and relevant methods of doing so is CLIL – Content and Language Integrated Learning. At the Kirchliche Hochschule Graz, CLIL is used and evaluated at teacher training for primary education. Results show that students have an enriching experience in the seminars, although group-teaching methods could be enhanced.
